Meet Elizabeth

What’s a small, ordinary thing that brings you a disproportionate amount of joy?

My Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor set - if ever I have a moment to spare, I’ll whip out the paints and make a card for someone. I love how the paints bring so much light and vibrance to whatever I am making, and I hope they bring just as much light and happiness to the card’s recipient :)

Morning person or night owl? And how does that show up in your work?

I am robotically programmed to be a morning person, for better or for worse! That means mornings are my prime creative time. I wake up, ideas sparking, and tend to get into the best creative flow in the morning.

What’s your current hyper-fixation?

The electric color of Klein blue - currently eyeing these mugs that I should have bought at the store when I was in Oregon over the holiday season .. Kicking myself for practicing purchasing restraint, ha!

What does your perfect “no work allowed” day look like?

I will be sleeping in until a ripe 6:30 AM, enjoying a luxuriously slowww breakfast and coffee while journaling and reading my book. I’d go to a heated yoga class, probably enjoy a second coffee or matcha with a friend afterwards (love Minnow for matcha or Fourtilfour for coffee) and do some thrifting. I’d sit in the sunshine for a bit and take a nap (optimistically), and then paint a watercolor card to send to a friend. As the sun starts to set, I would take a walk, and then go home to cook a meal with my boyfriend! Then, I would likely make us go on another walk, but this time, for dessert ;)

Coffee order, tea ritual, or something else entirely?

If I am feeling special - a matcha with oat milk and homemade vanilla syrup !

What’s a belief or mindset that’s quietly changed the way you work or live?

Learning is infinite. Continuously ask questions, challenge your brain, and explore the newness. You may not realize that you’re growing until one day, you can look back and realize how far you’ve come. Growth is a beautiful thing.

What’s something you’ve intentionally unlearned in the last few years?

That you can’t do it !!!

What’s a non-negotiable habit that keeps your brain sharp and your builds clean?

Morning movement and a good breakfast. My morning routine is sacred and I believe incredibly beneficial to my mindset throughout the day.

Deep-work day essentials: sound, snack, setup. Paint the picture.

Some house music - borderline toooo clubby - to wake and shake things. A sparkling water to bring some fizz back into the day, and a fully charged computer sitting across the desk from the rest of the team ! Talking to the girls for a minute between tasks always gets me back into the groove.

Where do your best ideas actually come from?

Walks! The rhythmic movement of my feet on the ground and the steady vision in front of me allows my brain to just wander, work through, and tinker with my thoughts. Often, that’s when the real breakthroughs come.

What’s a tiny web decision you obsess over that secretly makes or breaks a site?

Navbars - talk about a vibe! A good navbar m a k e s - or breaks - a site. They come in all shapes and sizes too, and I will be eternally tinkering with our navbar, so keep checking back to see where we’re at on any given day.

How do you keep websites human in a world obsessed with speed, scale, and shortcuts?

It’s in the small details - the micro interactions, the cheeky verbiage hidden in the footer, the 404 page that makes you chuckle .. its in the most subtle of spots where I like to inject just a smidge of good ole humanity because .. we stare at a screen most of our day looking at websites! Why not make them a little bit fun :)

What platforms or tools are giving you life right now?

I am loyal to the Webflow universe, but have recently been discovering the magic that is Framer ! And of course, we can’t forget about Figma. But .. in today’s world, a new tool comes to the table every day, so staying current keeps me young and spry.

What tool would cause a personal crisis if it disappeared tomorrow?

Figma without a doubt. It’s my sketch board, my planner, my infinite canvas … it is an extension of my brain. I would for surely be deep in a crisis if it were to leave this world.

What’s the next digital shift no one’s talking about yet, but should be?

People talk about the future of AI , just as people are talking about the increasing important of analogue. I think the next digital shift lies perhaps right in the middle - what will the actual every day look like ? While we’re equally concerned about having Chat GPT optimize our lives as we are about remembering the magic of done-by-hand … where is the middle ground? I think that is a conversation that won’t happen until its already here, so .. for now .. I guess we’ll just sit tight and see. It’s bound to be a wild ride!

Tabs or bookmarks? Tabs - don’t look at my browser (there's too many of them) …

Dark mode or light mode? Toggle to switch back and forth ;) But mostly, light mode

Clean desk or organized chaos? Clean !!!!! Probably wiped with a towel so there’s no dust specks, either. Clean desk = clean mind.

Build from scratch or refine and polish? Built from scratch is best - but then, continue to refine and polish alwaysss.

Sweet treat or salty snack? Sweet forever and ever.
